How Long Does a Bathroom Remodel Take in Colorado?

A realistic schedule for Front Range homeowners

Most bathroom remodels follow the same sequence. The total weeks change based on permits, material lead times, and how much of the room is changing.

The four phases of a bathroom remodel

1. Design and selections

Before anything is ordered, we confirm the layout, fixtures, tile, vanity, countertop, lighting, and finishes. For a small refresh this can happen in a few days. For a custom primary bath with layout changes, it usually takes one to three weeks while decisions settle.

2. Permits and material lead times

Once selections are made, permits are pulled if plumbing, electrical, or structural changes are involved. At the same time, we order materials. Tile, vanities, and fixtures can take anywhere from a few days to several weeks depending on availability.

3. Construction

Demo, rough plumbing and electrical, waterproofing, tile work, fixture install, paint, and trim. A simple guest bath update may take a week or two. A full gut renovation with custom tile and layout changes can take four to six weeks.

4. Final walkthrough

We run through the punch list together, test fixtures, review tile and grout details, and make sure the room is clean and ready to use. This usually happens within a day or two of the last work.

What can speed things up

  • Keeping the existing layout and plumbing locations
  • Choosing in-stock tile and fixtures
  • Grouping decisions quickly during the selection phase
  • Scheduling around a time with no other household construction

What can slow things down

  • Relocating plumbing or drainage
  • Custom or backordered materials
  • Discovery of water damage or subfloor issues during demo
  • Permit turnaround in busier municipalities
